Note: The fennel bulbs can be grated on top of your salad or added to a stir fry for extra flavour. The fennel fern tastes like licorice. Cut small amounts of the fern into the salad. Below is a fennel recipe you might want to try.
Fennel with Orange
Saute a medium chopped onion in butter. Add sliced fennel root and chopped garlic scapes to taste. Section a medium orange and rough chop. Add to mixture, reduce heat, cover, and simmer for an additional 15 minutes. Add salt and basil to taste. If you like sausage or bacon, then add crips bacon bits or fried sausage that has been cut into coins.
